The owner and founder of The Royal Cakery in New Orleans, Louisiana, is Shirelle Royal, and this is the story of her journey. As a member of the International Cake Exploration Societé with more than 25 years of experience, this cake bakery is an extension of her passion for baking.
An Early Education in Excellence
After marrying her husband, Charles Royal, then stationed in Phoenix, Arizona, in the United States Air Force, Shirelle made a choice that would shape her life to come by enrolling in a cake decorating class at a local community college. It was here that she quickly discovered her passion for cakes.
A Return to the Big Easy
Upon returning back to her home in New Orleans in 1985, she started her career in baking by helping family and friends. By 1995, her small operation had found so much success that she decided to open The Royal Cakery. Since moving to the current location on Morrison Road, The Royal Cakery has surpassed all of her early expectations.
